JOB DESCRIPTION
MUSICAL DIRECTOR’S RESPONSIBILITIES: The Musical Director shall be responsible to CTOC for all musical aspects of a given production. Such responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to, the following activities:
- Participate in a production meeting prior to auditions. The production meeting will be attended by the Director, Assistant Director, Stage Manager, Musical Director, Set Designer, Costume Designer, Prop Master, and CTOC’s General Manager.
- Meet with the Director prior to auditions to review responsibilities, expectations, and artistic vision for the production.
- Attend all auditions; final casting decisions are made by the Director.
- Attend callbacks if deemed necessary.
- Attend all rehearsals involving music and all performances.
- Teach music, vocal parts, and harmonies to the cast as appropriate for the production.
- Within thirty (30) days of receiving the score, notify CTOC’s General Manager and/or 2nd Vice President of any additional musical needs or concerns not already addressed.
- Identify all musician and instrumental needs and coordinate musician recruitment as necessary.
- Advise the Stage Manager of all musical and technical needs, including sound, microphones, orchestra placement, or instrumentation.
- If an Apprentice Musical Director is identified, work with the Beyond the Stage CTOC Board Advisor to create tentative schedule and expectations for the teen apprentice consistent with CTOC policies.
The Musical Director will be compensated in the amount of $1,000.00 to be paid during the production schedule.
