JOB DESCRIPTION
The Choreographer will possess the ability to design and direct the dance or stylized
movement being used for the show, while helping to instill in the children a love of
theatre, an excitement for performance, and a willingness to collaborate. He/she must
possess excellent communication and dance skills, must be self-motivated, efficient, and
creative. Experience working with children is especially important.
The following are the duties and responsibilities of the Choreographer:
- The Choreographer will participate in a production meeting prior to
auditions. The production meeting will be attended by the Director,
Assistant Director,
Musical Director, Set Technician, Costume Designer, Prop Master, CTOC’s General
Manager - The Choreographer will meet with the Director prior to auditions to discuss
the Choreographer’s responsibilities and duties for the show. - The Choreographer may attend all auditions. Final cast selection decisions will
be made by the Director. - The Choreographer will attend callbacks, if deemed necessary.
- The Choreographer is required to attend all rehearsals that require dance/movement
direction and all performances. - The choreographer will create and plan the choreography for the production.
- The Choreographer will teach choreography to the cast,
taking time to teach dance techniques as needed. - *If a Teen Apprentice Choreographer is identified, the Choreographer will work with the
Beyond the Stage CTOC Board Advisor to create tentative schedule &expectations for the
teen apprentice..
